TC Recalls ALL Venture Rifles…
The Thompson Center Venture, which has been heralded as the 1 MOA guaranteed budget rifle answer to its more expensive brother, the Icon, released a bit of a scary recall a few weeks ago.
Apparently EVERY SINGLE Venture ever sold (I understand this to mean all styles and models) potentially have a problem with the sear which can at any time disengage and cause the rifle to fire WITHOUT the trigger being pulled. For those of you who may not be tracking with me it basically means this… Pretend your rifle has a mind of its own and chooses to fire whenever it wants. Capiche? That’s bad. VERY BAD.
Lots of question marks have been raised since “America’s Master Gunmaker” was bought out by Smith & Wesson a couple years ago regarding how quality and manufacturing expectations would be maintained during the change over. I hold it on good authority that some less substantial mishaps resulting in unintentional limited editions have come out of the move from NH to MASS mad could indicate similar issues we’re now seeing with this undoubtedly expensive Venture recall.
But don’t just take my word for it. Here it is straight from the horses mouth.

THIS is what happens when you pull a business out of the promised land, especially to a place like taxachusetts.
Does anyone know when TC is going to start shipping out new(fixed) guns? I would really like to buy one before the 12/31/2011 $50 rebate ends but you can’t find these guns anywhere due to the recall.
Wow… that’s a little scary!
