Here’s what Smith & Wesson did. They listened to my advice and mated the S&W M&P Compact 9 and the Bodyguard 380 and the Shield single stack 9mm was born. Lots of features borrowed from each. Looking forward to getting one of these in very soon for a review, but before I get ahead of myself read on for a little more info.
The biggest part of the announcement that will flatline a lot of critics? It’s also available in the more powerful .40 Smith & Wesson round which is a technology I feel we’re needing to see more of in pocket guns. Many people won’t be ready to jump on board until the manufacturers can combine a tiny footprint along with narrow width (the Shield is under 1 inch thick) and firepower. Also working ahead of the curve are a number of manufacturers working in conjunction with Smith & Wesson to have fantastic add on accessories at the ready upon S&W’s announcement of the Shield.
