Guns & Ammo Reviews the Heizer DoubleTap

Photo courtesy of gunsandammo.com. That southpaw grip is driving me crazy.
Wonder what took them so long? For what it’s worth we’ve been on the list for one of these to do a handgun review on since last November when they first announced the creatively designed new pistola. The folks at Heizer Defense claim that they designed the DoubleTap for primary carry consideration and not necessarily a backup gun. Which I’m fine with, though it appears clear that Dick Metcalf from G&A feels this is a backup carry pistol.
Anyway here’s the scoop on the Heizer DoubleTap from the mind of Dick Metcalf of Guns & Ammo. I’m not sure how G&A can survive these days without accompanying their online reviews with shooting video/narrative footage. I realize they cannot insert video into their “gun rag” paper magazine, but if they’re breaking into the online world with the resources they have how is it not a prerequisite? Just my opinion I guess.

Concur it’s not a primary carry, and “yes” only 2 rounds, but who cares?
I like it’s extreme simplicity. I like its small size/big punch. Nobody should be taking 15 yard shot with this thing. It’s a “holy-crap-I’m-gonna die-eat-this-MF” last-ditch weapon.
My only ‘beef’ is the price. You can get a .45 acp glock for about the same price.
I like the idea too, Tim. Though I feel like they’re each a couple of hundred dollars overpriced. In all honesty I believe they’ve priced them high enough to keep up with demand, NOT because they necessarily feel their product is worth that much. If each were even $100 lower people would start getting pissed about lack of inventory and start using the names Keltec and Heizer in the same sentences.
