PHENOMENAL article from Rob Tackett with TacStrike targets in regards to “PANIC BUYING” of firearms. Not only does he speak with clarity and from experience, but he provides insights to emotions that many of us have undoubtedly felt from time to time when it comes to purchasing a new firearm.

Honestly after reading the post in its entirety I’ll honestly say it’s one of the most thorough and complete thoughts on preparing with firearms, making educated purposes, buying ammo, training, etc that I’ve ever seen. Rob goes in depth to explain how many handguns and why, the process he goes through to save up for and buy a new gun (of any kind) and reasonable considerations towards cost. I.E. you don’t have to spend an arm and a leg on a reliable weapon.

Here is one of about 15 favorite quotes I have from the article:

What you need to do is pay for training (from a professional organization), pay for quality gear(for one gun at a time), pay for proper range equipment (like steel and target carriers).  What you don’t need to do is spend countless hours on forums talking about arbitrary bullshit that is theory based and subject to a bunch of other average guys giving expert opinions.

In short, he says you can read and argue all the theory based stuff on forums you want, but none of that matters if it’s based solely on theory and not in reality.

My pleasure, Rob. Hysteria and reasonable preparedness are two very different things. Now, if you’re buying up guns to resell for boocoo bucks during the shortage, more power to you.

Yeah the article sort of doesn’t apply to the collectors of firearms. I know a lot of guys who buy guns in lots and never shoot them. They order obscure rifles or limited editions with no intention of ever pressing the trigger on them. They are not to be confused with defensive minded individuals who relate more to more what I’m getting at.

Great article Rob, and thanks for pointing it out Ebbs.

I always find it sad talking to someone who not only doesn’t train with the guns and ammo they are stockpiling, but they don’t have even 3 days worth of food in their home. It’s like they are living in some sort of fantasy world, and I think the zombie craze has a lot to do with it.

    • Ebbs says:

Understood 100%. You’re approaching things more like Col. Cooper: “Owning a handgun doesn’t make you armed any more than owning a guitar makes you a musician.”

I did take exception to your “polished turd” AK comment though. :)
